So I have this weird ability...

I can remember random things from years ago and to this day every time the day or time appears I always think back to that memory. I can also remember all of my phone numbers from my childhood... Call me weird but I think it's easier to remember my old numbers because I didn't have a cell phone to hold the number for me. Back then couldn't ask Siri to "call mom" hahaha

Anyways back to my remembering. Five years ago today I got the biggest shock of my life. Why am I telling you this? Probably because this day (next to my engagement day and wedding day) was probably the greatest day of my life.

March 18...2009. I found out I was expecting my first child. It's now 3/18/14 and I have this little boy sitting in the front room practicing his letters for school. I call him Cash. My first born child - whom I found I was pregnant with on March 18...five years ago. I can't help but smile every time this date pops up on the calendar. The feelings - the excitement - being scared...all the emotions rolled into one as I stopped by the store after going to the gym at 5:30 in the morning to get a pregnancy test. Only to get home - go pee and see two little pink lines pop up. I will never forget that. It makes me cry because that feeling will probably never happen again - but to be able to think back on that morning every year at the same time...how can you not smile.

I now have this stubborn little boy who is going to be 5 in October. I'm so happy he is growing into this little man but so sad he is no longer my little bug. He is becoming a big bug. It's amazing how fast time flies. It was like yesterday I was getting the shock of my life and now this little boy is almost done with his first year of preschool. Can I cry?

You're probably thinking - well what about Colt. That date was March 8. 3/8/10 when I found out I was pregnant with Colt. Now that is a different story. Having a 3.5 month old and then finding out you are expecting again brings about all new crazy emotions hahaha I still smile on that day - but I also cry on that date as well. It was also the date that I fully miscarried a 10 week old fetus that was another boy. So that date has high points and low points for me.

Either way... my ability to remember random dates and every year bring back the memory is nuts. Jeff thinks I am crazy and says "why don't you just forget about stuff like that". You can't. I can't. For some reason they happened and I will never forget random dates. Or like the time on 4/22/06 when I went on this date with a crazy sexy man whom I now call my husband. I still remember that date and he doesn't hate me for it hahaha

So five years ago today I found out Cash was coming.

Best day of my life.

I like the number 5!

Health Update

Well I went to the doctor the other day and the surgery worked for the most part. I ended up having only 20% scarring come back so the other 80% is an open uterus!!! :D I was able to final have a normal period which made me so happy. So basically I have been stressing that the operation I had in October never worked and it actually did. He said if we every wanted to try to have another baby (which is a looooooong shot) I would have to have another quick surgery to clear the 20% of the scar tissue is still there. I have chosen not remove it right now because it's not giving me problems. Should it give me problems down the road - then I will think about removing it. Basically I just want to stay out of the hospital and away from surgeries this year (knock on wood).  And I'm also on a workout kick right now trying to get my best body ever and I don't know want to do anything stupid and make a decision I could regret later. I am also thinking about getting my certification to become a personal trainer so I am excited about that one! :D

New Challenge!

Hey Everyone...

Just wanted to give an update on what's been going on. Now that the holiday's are over (thank goodness) we can look forward to a new year. I need this year to run smoothly and even though it has started with a few obstacle's I think we can overcome them. I don't need to mention them but it's something I need to deal with and will.

In the mean time the boys got completely spoiled for Christmas and had a blast. They had Marine the Elf visit them each night throughout the month of December and it was fun seeing their reactions. I think we are going to keep this up. I also might be adding another elf next year too. The reason for this is due to the fact that I had to finally find a way to get rid of Colt's sippy cup. He was so attached to it and wouldn't drink out of anything else. He went to my parents for the weekend while Jeff and I went to Oakland (I will blog about that soon) and when he got home I told him Marine took it to feed a baby elf. I want to incorporate that somehow into Colt seeing that his cup helped this elf grow. So that should be interesting.

My health is on the up and hopefully my doctor's appointment on Friday is a positive one. I was on a series of hormones and birth control after my surgery for two months and when I stopped my pills I was supposed to have a period. I never did and frankly I was devastated thinking the surgery didn't work at all. Now flash forward a month and I finally got a period!!! A normal one I haven't had since November 2012. I called and they want to see me - so we will see how my uterus looks on Friday. I doubt I will ever have kids again but hey - if my uterus is rid of the scarring I will just be happy with that! I will keep you guys updated on that as well.

Because of all the medical stuff I had to go through last year I have decided to sign up for a new challenge in my life. I have joined bodybuilding.com's transformation challenge that will take me through the next 3 months. I needed something to help push me into dropping the weight I have gained (because of the hormones) and I signed up and it starts today. I started a program two weeks ago but the contest starts today. The reason I tell you this is because I have started another blog to track my journey. I figured if I put myself out there then I will stay motivated and it will push me to actually stay on track. Those who would like to follow my fitness/healthy journey can go to www.transformingsnortney2013.blogpsot.com. You don't have to follow if it you don't want to but hey I am throwing it out there. I also will be posting weekly and will try to throw in a few extra blogs here and there during the week when I am not so busy. I am also posting on Instagram (snortney2013) if you want to follow there as well. If I could have a second account on Instagram to post my transformation I would set that up but I haven't figured that out quite yet! haha

But I do have a few things to blog about so stay tuned. Between the boys - school - working out and Jeff's schedule and the holiday's - life has been busy!!!

Hope everyone has a great new year and I'm excited to see what 2014 brings!

Colt Turns 3!!!!

Well my baby has turned the big 3 today. I'm a little more sad than I was with Cash today because Colt is my baby and he is getting out of that baby phase. Granted I always hoped for one more but if Colt is my last then I have a pretty good boy on my hands!

Colt came into this world screaming and will probably leave screaming. He has always done things when he wanted (case in point - labor was quick and hurt like hell because he wanted out) and still tries to get away with doing things his way. Colt has managed to come to this earth and test me being a mother. I told Jeff today God probably gave him this last message before he was born: "you are going to a pretty good family but make sure you push as many buttons as possible!" I honestly believe this because he isn't my easy child. Cash even though he throws a lot of tantrums and screams at me isn't as hard as Colt. Colt from day 1 has been a little harder and somedays I just look at him and scream "ugh!" But the thing is - I'm so glad I am able to do that. I'm glad that he tests me and I have these tests as a mom. If both of them were complete angels then what is the good in that? It would be too easy and I love a challenge. Colt is that challenge. Colt is also a lover - a fighter - a comedian - everything you can think of. His new thing to say is "last night" and "i make you happy". We will ask him if he did something and he will always answer with "Last Night". Or if I laugh at him he always says "I make you happy mom". It's so cute. He is always concerned too. If you are hurt he will make you feel better and kiss your boo boo's. I just love him. I'm sad that he is growing up so fast. He has a great big brother  who constantly picks on him but it makes him stronger. He is the light in our family and I couldn't be more happy to call him my son. My son. I have sons and I love it.

Well like Cash - here is Colt's birthday interview. My favorite part of his answers was when I asked him who his best friend was he immediately said Cash. There was no hesitation on his part and he jumped at the chance to say it. Melt my heart!!!

Bug Turns 4!!

Okay where has the time gone!?!

Cash turned 4 today and it brings back so many memories!!! It was like yesterday I was in labor forever and after 32 hours and a c-section he came in to this world. I'm a little sad thinking about how fast it has gone but man has it been a ride. Cash is growing up so fast and with him in school now I can't imagine how fast the next years will go. I'm in awe of the little boy he is becoming. Even though he can be EXTREMELY stubborn and wants to get his own way - he always finds a way to listen (even when he doesn't want too). He is such a helper and will do anything to help his brother. Mind you he wants to tackle Colt every chance he gets but he loves his brother more than anything and I couldn't imagine them not being together.

I have done a few facts on each of the boys on each of their birthday's and I found a birthday interview that I wanted to start doing. Since the boys can understand what I'm asking - the questions are funner for me because of the answers I get.

School Days and Soccer Weekends

Well for most of September I felt what it was like to be a soccer mom. I never thought I would say I was a soccer mom - but until football and baseball season starts I'll live with it.

Cash started school this year at the Magic Treehouse Preschool. He has a really good teacher and even though he has been in trouble a few times he manages to do very well. Cash has a problem of not wanting to share and wanting to tackle and play rough. We have to remind him he can do that at home with his brother but not at school. Our 10 block drive to his school involves me going over the "rules" he must follow if he wants to stay in school. He hates to listen to me lecture but until we don't have to say them anymore he is stuck with me saying them haha... They go over a letter each week and are working on shapes and numbers. Plus every Wednesday there is show-n-tell and Cash loves it. I have also loved being able to spend some time with Colt one-on-one while Cash is in school. Colt is spoiled though and ends up getting some sort of treat once we drop Cash off. I can't help it - he's my baby. So far Cash's favorite thing about school is counting. He counts everything now and is pretty good at it too. He is stubborn though and won't do what you ask him to do but when we work on "homework" that I give him he will buckle down and do it.

Here are a few pics from his first day of school:
I had to put this one in there because Colt cracks me up. If I can ever get a good smile from him I will die. He is a jokester!!! But seriously half my pics are like this of him.

Can I cry?? He is growing up so fast!

Colt had to get a back pack too!

Yeah for school!!!
On October 5th we were able to close out this year's soccer season. I had to bring treats to the last game and we enjoyed some nice fall weather. Cash scored his first and only goal of the season and progressed so much through the year. He went from using his hands to not using his hands! His coach was proud of him and asked if we would play in the spring. Colt will be able to play in the spring as well. I can tell you though - watching 3-4 year-old soccer is MADNESS! haha

Here are a few pics of his games:
During warmups! Form is getting better!

Practicing against his coach!

Our goofball!

"Piture me mom!" hahaha Crazy Colt!

Love my foosch! Weird I caught a bright orange orb in my pic too!

Scoring his first goal!

"I scored mom!"

Hanging out with dad during timeout time.
Can I just tell you how much I have enjoyed living in Bountiful. We live on the west side and it's so quiet. There is so much to do and I'm like 5 minutes from both gyms I go too! Hopefully in a few years we can find a house to buy in this area or else we'll be looking a little farther north in Kaysville. But seriously - it has been a nice change of pace. :D
